Breaking Free from the Shame Spiral of Perfectionism in CPTSD 🌀

Hey Warriors, let's talk about the Shame Spiral of Perfectionism, a cycle many of us with #CPTSD can get caught in. You're not alone, and there's a way out. 🌈

📌 What is the Shame Spiral?

When you set impossibly high standards for yourself and fail to meet them, that's when shame kicks in. This shame then feeds the cycle, making you strive for even more unattainable perfection. It's a self-defeating loop, but you can break free. 🛠️

🌱 Why Does It Matter in CPTSD?

Many of us with Complex PTSD use perfectionism as armor. We think if we're perfect, we'll be immune to criticism and, by extension, safe from emotional harm. It's a coping mechanism, but one that often brings more pain. 😢

🔍 Spotting the Spiral

1️⃣ Overgeneralizing a small mistake as a character flaw.
2️⃣ The persistent fear of not being "enough."
3️⃣ Using phrases like "should have" and "could have" that signify missed perfection.

🤗 You're Human, Not a Machine

You're allowed to make mistakes, and it's okay to be 'imperfect.' Your value doesn't lie in your ability to meet impossibly high standards. You're worthy just as you are. 🌟
